PARIS FASHION WEEK EXCLUSIVE: VIVIENNE WESTWOOD GOLD LABEL AW15

After a sunny few days in Paris for Fashion Week, we are in high spirits and thus going to treat you to a AW15 sneak preview from the Westwood Gold Label Show.

In the press release prior to the show, Westwood highlights the importance of a demonstration called “Time to Act” demanding action to stop climate change. She then switches to talk politics, forever rallying her fashionista fans to vote Green in the upcoming General Election. She remarks, “The main parties won’t change anything but the Public Debate will. The debate is all over the Internet but that’s not good enough we must vote and demonstrate.”

“We had a great time doing the collection, ‘Unisex’ as usual with a collection we went through hell. But we came out the other side. Trousers for women, yes! Dresses for men, the same dresses that women wear? Do that!”

Westwood is further inspired by changes in proportion – big shoulders give a small head, for example. She makes it sound so sexual, so new, making you look at a person from the outside, with new eyes.

She concludes with an intricate analysis of the presence of past in the future:

“We sort of know what’s human. Let’s go for it: Study the past. There’s a hint of it in the future.”

The quality of the images isn’t as great as these are taken during the show – so you have an absolute exclusive of what the show looked like. And for those that haven’t realised yet – it was as utterly bizarre and magical as the designer herself!
